As a leafs fan I was glad to see us lose in regulation again (Go Tank Nation) but I wouldn't be too braggy if I was a NYI fan after that game. Leafs came out totally flat and didn't even show up until the 2nd period and the Islanders barely held on for the win.

If the Isles are going to have any post season success (and I hope they do to be honest) then need to get more of a killer instinct when they have a team down on the matt like they did with the lowly leafs last night.

Toronto is playing with zero confidence and alot of the team is playing with minimal care.....they should be easy pickings for any team who is on their game the rest of the year.

Halak looks good for you guys and maybe we can play like he did for the habs back in the 09 playoffs - man he was on fire that year and led the Habs way deeper than they deserved.

can't play every regular season game with the same intensity you see in the playoffs. Good teams surrender leads and lose games to bad teams regularly in the NHL. It happens. The important part is the two points. At this stage of the season and having seen how they play the Pens and Rangers, I'm not worried about the level of effort come playoff time. If anything, I'm worried about the team being healthy for the playoffs and fixing their penalty kill. We've seen plenty of times this year how well they can play, I'm confident that's the level we'll see come playoff time.

At this point it's just about the tanking for the Leafs and I've got to say that was too close for comfort. Safe to say the Islanders are a good team and should be fun to see how their playoff run goes this time around. Although they really need to step it up. The Leafs have barely won any games in 2015, that should have been way easier for the Islanders to come out on top in.

Got to take everyone seriously when you have the higher expectations the Islanders have this season.

I think what you guys are forgetting is that we're missing a top line forward and a top four defenseman. They still generally dominated possession for all but the first 10 minutes of the second.

It's baffling to everyone how on earth she's allowed to blog on this site. She's the worst. You can see the difference when you look at how many comments her blog generates in comparison to Dans.

Dee averages about 10

Dan averages about 300

We suck. This whole leading the division thing is a hoax. All kidding aside we havent been playing well recently which is strange to say considering we've won four of our last five. We seem to play down to crappy teams for whatever reason which explains last nights game.

I believe calling Lupul a "top line" forward is a bit of a stretch.

He's a top 6 forward on most NHL if not all NHL teams WHEN HE'S HEALTHY.

He is pretty much a point per game player but he's hurt waaaaaay too often.

Anyhow you were citing reasons why the Islanders didn't win convincingly, I simply wanted to make you aware that the Leafs were without their 30 min a night D man and one of our top 6 guys.

Now the poster who replied saying you guys played down to the level of a crappy team last night - he's bang on.

Nobody gives a fack. I dont think anybody was bragging about beating a crappy team 3-2 2 points is 2 points though and nobody is gonna apologize for it either
